A concept for a living fantasy world in virtual reality

Lysendral VR is an ongoing concept for an immersive VR experience. The goal is to create a medieval city where players can immerse themselves in a fascinating fantasy world through light and shadow puzzles, interactive NPCs and a dynamic environment.

Currently in the concept phase – first tests with prototypes for interactive mechanics are in progress!

What is Lysendral VR?

Lysendral VR is my ambitious North Star project on which I base my asset, addon and plugin development.

  • It is an experimental VR project with a focus on interactive environments & living NPCs
  • Procedural techniques support the development of the medieval city & AI-supported mechanics increase immersion.
  • It will be a dynamic world with light & shadow puzzles, hidden secrets & realistic crowd system

 

⚠️ Current status: Lysendral VR is in an early concept & prototyping phase. Not yet a complete game – but first playable mechanics are being tested!

The World of Lysendral

 Lysendral is a medieval city full of intrigue, magic and history. It was once an important imperial residence in the Lysandrian Empire, founded by Lysander Ardynus in the year 777 of the Cycle of the Isfyre. Today, its ancient buildings stand as witnesses to a bygone era, while the city itself exists in a fragile balance between order and oblivion.

The Magistrate’s Palace

  • Now known as the seat of government of the magistrate, this palace was once an imperial palace – a traveling residence of Lysander the Great
  • Although Emperor Lysander had many traveling palaces built in the Midlands, this one in the capital was his most magnificent palace.
  • Many of its once magnificent halls and ceremonial rooms are now forgotten or misused – but ancient secrets may still lie hidden behind the thick walls.

The cathedral of Lysendral

  • A monumental building that served as both a religious center and a seat of political power.
  • The huge stained glass windows and massive stone arches tell stories of divinity, but also of intrigue and forbidden magic.
  • Some say that there is more than just bones in the catacombs beneath the cathedral…

The markets & alleyways

  • The narrow alleyways of Lysendral are full of traders, thieves and travelers.
  • The markets are not only full of goods, but also rumors and information – you just have to know who you are listening to.
  • In the dark, however, the streets are not a safe place – not for strangers and certainly not for those who ask too many questions…

The Surrounding Area

  • Discover magical ruins & ritual sites and choose between the ancient magic of the gods, the cold magic of Isfyre or the chaotic alchemy of distant Karveth.
  • Supernatural creatures – Avoid the thorny Stahhilguards, creatures of the spring god Thalvyn.
  • Whispered prophecies warn of what is to come and ancient brotherhoods secretly pursue their own goals. Who can you trust?

⚠️ Note: The world will be gradually expanded & tested based on technical feasibility and community feedback!

Planned Gameplay Features

The main focus of Lysendral VR is on immersiveness. A believable world is created not only through impressive backdrops, but through real interaction. The environment should be tangible – not just a backdrop, but a place that you can interact with.

From my point of view, this means above all:

  • High interactivity with the world – touching, moving, influencing things.
  • Detailed hand integration – intuitive control with physical interactions.
  • A living, breathing world – NPCs, physics, secrets that can be discovered.

What does that mean in concrete terms?

  • Light & shadow puzzles: Hidden doors and symbols that only appear under certain lighting conditions, shadow mechanics that reveal clues or hidden paths
  • Dynamic NPCs & OpenAI dialogs: AI-supported NPC interactions & realistic behavior patterns create a lively atmosphere, NPCs answer your questions.
  • Immerse yourself in the crowd. Crowd simulations and social stealth mechanics for VR give the impression of interacting in a densely populated city.
  • Interactive objects & VR physics: swords, lanterns, scrolls, bells – all physically tangible and usable. The combat system uses experimental sword-fighting mechanics with realistic collisions. Cast spells using gesture control.

Development Status

Lysendral VR is a concept in active development.

Current status:

  • First 3D models & test mechanics for interactions
  • Light & shadow puzzles as primary development focus
  • AI-NPC interactions in an early experimental stage

Planned next steps:

  • Expand prototypes for light puzzles & NPC systems
  • Implement test scenes in VR
  • Gather feedback from community & testing

Important note: Lysendral VR is not a finished game, but a concept in development!
